Wayne County Jail Ministry

Since 1981, every 4th Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m., a group from OBC goes into the jail and leads a worship service.  Approximately 30-50 inmates participate, each one having chosen to be in the service.  If you would like to join the group that Ministers at the Wayne County Jail. You must first fill out an application and be registered at the Jail by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department. See Brother Jim Ball for an application.

On November 27, 2016, Orrville Baptist Church and the Wayne County Jail, celebrated John Sommer for his leadership of the Jail Ministry for the past 25 years. John was honored for his dedication and faithful service to the jail ministry, which began under his leadership. In that time, John has ministered to over 12,000 people.  Wayne County Jail Chaplain, Phil Klinefelter presented John with a commemorative plaque to honor his 25 years of service.
